    Jan. 27, 1969
    A group of Detroit African-American auto workers known as the Eldon Avenue Axle Plant Revolutionary Union Movement led a wildcat strike against racism and bad working conditions. They were critical of both automakers and the UAW (United Automobile Workers), condemning the seniority system and grievance procedures as racist.

    Baltimore Locals 355 and 570 strike at US Foods facility in Severn, Md.
    Apr. 28, 2016 | At 2pm yesterday, Teamster members of U.S. Foods in Severn, Md., walked off the job and commenced an unfair labor strike against the Company. The dispute centers around the Company's failure to bargain in good faith, its use of out-of-state and non-bargaining unit employees to perform work normally performed by the Teamsters, and the Company's attempt to deal directly with its employees concerning effects bargaining. US Foods employs approximately 190 Teamsters in both the warehouse and delivery operations. More at teamsters355.com and team570.org.

    Gannett offers $815 million to buy Tribune Publishing
    Apr. 28, 2016 | Gannett Co., which owns USA TODAY and more than 100 other media properties across the country, said Monday it offered to buy Tribune Publishing, it's second big expansion move since spinning off from its former parent less than a year ago.
